In the state of Indiana, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training programs require a minimum of 105 instructional hours, which must include both classroom learning and hands-on clinical experience.

For those interested in becoming a Qualified Medication Aide (QMA), Indiana has specific requirements that must be met before enrollment. Students must already be certified as a CNA and must have completed at least 1,000 hours of CNA work experience within the past two years. In addition, applicants must be at least 18 years old, provide proof of a high school diploma or equivalent, and be listed in good standing on the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) aide registry.

To become a QMA in Indiana, students are required to complete a 100-hour state-approved program, which includes 60 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of clinical training in a supervised setting.

If you plan to practice outside of Indiana, it is highly recommended that you contact your state’s regulatory board before enrolling. Every state may have its own guidelines and requirements for CNA or QMA certification, including additional testing or licensure procedures. Understanding and meeting your state’s regulations is essential to ensuring a smooth, legal, and successful start to your career in healthcare.

Being well-informed about your state’s standards not only ensures compliance but also helps you gain a deeper understanding of the profession, setting you up for long-term success in the healthcare workforce.
